Former Chief Justice Of India RC Lahoti Passes Away At The Age Of 81

NEW DELHI: The former chief justice of India Ramesh Chandra Lahoti passes away at the age of 81 on March 23.

He took his last breath at a hospital in New Delhi.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Law Minister Kiren Rujiji and other renowned personalities of the country paid heartfelt condolences over the demise of the ex CJI RC Lahoti.

The Union Law Minister Rujiji and PM Modi took to their official Twitter handles to condoled the death of RC Lahoti and express their grief paying condolences to the family members.

RC Lahori was appointed as the 35th chief justice of India on 1st June 2004 and after serving for one year and 5 months and retired from the office on 1st November 2005.

The 35th CJI Ramesh Chandra Lahori was born on 1st November 1940 in Guna of Madhya Pradesh and got married to Kaushalya Lahori.

Lahori reached the highest position of the Indian judiciary by coming from a very humble background through his knowledge, wisdom and ability.

In 1960, Lahori joined the Bar in the Guna district of MP and in the year 1962 he started his career as an advocate.

As an advocate, RC Lahoti was directly recruited from the Bar office to the State Higher Judicial Service and in April 1977 he was employed in the position of district and session judge.

Later in 1978, Justice RC Lahori submitted his resignation after serving as the district and session judge for a year. He then returned to the bar to focus his practice in the High Court.

He was appointed as an additional judge of the state Madhya Pradesh on 3rd May 1988 and within three months he got the promotion and got employed in the position of permanent judge on 4 August 1988.

Lahori has experienced numerous promotions for his passionate service as justice and then on 7th February 1994, he got transferred to the Delhi High Court.

He was finally appointed as the reputed position of Supreme Court Judge after four years of being transferred to Delhi HC on 9 December 1998. Notably, N. V. Ramana is the current and 48th chief justice of the country.

The ex-chief justice of India Lahoti will always be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the judiciary of the country and his emphasis on the quick justice of the underprivileged.
