New Delhi: Navratri is a major Hindu festival that is celebrated in India to mark the arrival of Goddess Durga in our homes. 

This year, Navaratri will begin from the 7th of October and come to an end on the 15th of October.

Ghatasthapna is observed on the first day of Navratri to invoke Goddess Durga by performing a ritual at the right muhurat.

On Thursday, the Ghatsthapana muhurat will begin at 06:16:48 am and will last till 07:06:52 pm.

The Ghatasthapana is performed at Ishaan Kon muhurat on the first day of Navratri. During the ritual, seven grains are placed in a clay pot. An urn is then filled with water and placed on an earthen container with the help of a rope.

On the top of the urn, the leaves are placed. A coconut is wrapped in red cloth on the rope at the centre of the leaves.

Following this, the Kailash Puja is performed. The Goddess Durga is invoked after Ganesh Vandana is performed. 

For Ghatasthapana, a person would require a wide mouth earthen pot, seven grains, kalash, holy soil, matted coconut, water, mango or ashoka leaves, red cloth, betel nut, flowers and whole rice. Apart from this, turmeric, kunku, gulal, rangoli, sindoor, kapoor, janeu, incense sticks, niranjan, puja paan, har-phool, panchamrit, gur khopra, kharik, almond, coins, five types of fruits, chowki pat, kush asana and navedya will also be required.
