Hyderabad: In our day-to-day life we may not have realized how hard the delivery boys work only to make out for a decent pay cut/commission from the orders we place online.

Be it rain or the scotching heat they never fail to delivery the promise of the business to its customers.

However, the example established by Hyderabad should serve as a model for how delivery employees should be treated.

Earlier last week, Robin Mukesh, a resident of Hyderabad's King Koti, made an order on Zomato. Mukesh stepped to his front door 20 minutes later to collect the dinner from his delivery agent, Mohd Aqeel Ahmed.

When Mukesh went to pick up his order, he was astonished to learn that Ahmed didn't have a bike and had to make the delivery on foot. Ahmed had travelled a distance of roughly 9 kilometres in 20 minutes, he realized.

Mukesh was so moved by his story that he took a picture of him and shared it on Facebook, thanking him for his efforts.

The socila media post quickly garnered a flood of responses, with many people volunteering to assist with all possible ways. Mukesh decided to launch fundraising to buy Aqeel a bike after seeing the good response to his article. People began to contribute in large quantities, and within 10 hours, he had raised Rs 60,000.

Good Samaritans had donated a total of Rs 73,370 by the time Mukesh called the campaign to a close.

"We've reserved a TVS XL bike for Aqeel with the funds raised. We paid roughly Rs 65,000 for the bike. In a day or two, the bike will be delivered to Aqeel. We'll also get him some other necessities, such as a helmet and a raincoat. We've chosen to give him the remaining funds from the fundraising to cover his education expenses "Mukesh spoke to The News Minute about it.

Meanwhile, according to another post on Mukesh's Facebook page, the bike has since arrived and been handed over to Ahmed.

"We gave Aqeel the keys to the TVS XL, as well as the Helmet, Raincoat, Masks Packet, and Sanitizer, as promised. We now wish him well and hope that he will be able to execute his job more efficiently and sustain himself and his family "a portion of the post's description reads.
