Google joins hands with CBSE to train 1 million teachers to deliver 'Blended Learning'

Guwahati: Tech giant Google has announced a partnership with Central Board of Secondary Education to train over 1 million teachers by the end of 2020.

The announcement was made by Google's Sapna Chadha, the Director and Head of Marketing for Google India and the region of Southeast Asia. The tech giant will use free tools like G Suite for Education, YouTube, Google Classroom, and more to train more than 1 million teachers in around 22,000 schools across India.

It is to be mentioned that among many other plans that the company disclosed during its virtual conference, the company also announced a new grant of $1 million to Kaivalya Education Foundation (KEF) from Google.org, Google's philanthropic arm, as part of the Global Distance Learning Fund.

Announcing a $10 billion (approximately Rs 75,000 crore) Google for India Digitization fund, the tech giant has decided to accelerate the country's digital economy, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said that he is proud to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's version of Digital India. Notably, this was the sixth edition of Google for India, marking the tech giant's commitment towards its already ongoing initiatives in India.
