New Delhi: Putting an end to all speculation and anxiety, the Government on Tuesday announced that the CBSE Class 12 exams would not be held. The CBSE would follow a well-defined objective criteria to compile the results and it would be announced in a time-bound manner.

The decision was taken after a meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with union ministers, cabinet secretary and other stakeholders. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar and Union Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman were also part of the meeting.

The Prime Minister said that the decision has been taken in the interest of students. He stated that the COVID pandemic has affected the academic calendar and the issue of Board Exams was causing a lot of anxiety among students, parents, and teachers. Therefore, a decision was necessary. It is to be mentioned that at least 14 lakh students are registered to appear for the CBSE Class 12.
