Govt launches Aarogya Setu, a COVID-19 tracker app on Android, iOS

NEW DELHI: Government has launched Aarogya Setu which is essentially a COVID-19 tracker app that can let users know if they have accidentally come in contact with anyone who later tested coronavirus positive.

The app uses the location of the user and Bluetooth data to determine the results.

“Aarogya Setu is a mobile application developed by the Government of India to connect essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against COVID-19. The App is aimed at augmenting the initiatives of the Government of India, particularly the Department of Health, in proactively reaching out to and informing the users of the app regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of COVID-19,” according to the official description of the app.

The app is available in many languages including English and Hindi.
