Gujarat school asks students to write pro-CAA posts to Modi; calls it a “misunderstanding”

New Delhi: A private school in Gujarat has come under criticism after it asked its students to write congratulatory postcards on CAA for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Congratulations. I, citizen of India, congratulate honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). I and my family support this act," was the message that students were asked to write, according to media reports.

Teachers wrote the message on blackboards and asked students to copy the message.

Postcards were addressed to “PMO, South Block secretariat building, Raisina Hills, New Delhi”

“Students of Class X are currently appearing for their internal exams. They too were told to write these postcards. When they protested, they were told that those who did not submit these postcards would not be given marks in the internal exams. What is the purpose of mentioning their residence address, that too without the parents’ permission,” said a parent, according to The Indian Express.

The school management called it "misuse of authority" and apologized to the parents who as a mark of protest tore the postcards.
