Gurugram Gurdwara Open Doors For Muslim Brothers to Offer Namaz

Gurugram Gurdwara Association has decided to provide the premises of Gurgaon Gurdwara to Muslim brothers to offer prayer. The decision was made on the basis of objections made over the offerings of prayers by Muslims in open and public places.

President of Gurudwara Guru Singh Sabha in Sadar Bazar, Sherdil Singh Sidhu said that the basement area of Gurgaon Gurdwara is now open for Muslim brothers to offer their Friday prayers, Jumme ki Namaz. The president also said that Gurudwara is Guru Ghar and it is open for all without any discrimination and there should no politics on this.

Sidhu added that if there is no open place for namaz, the Muslims must be allowed to offer prayer and the Gurdwara doesn't like to argue on such issues. He finally concluded by saying that before offering namaz in open space people sought permission from the administration and those having problems needed to approach the Gurugram association before going for an attack.

After the Gurdwara association provided spaces for namaz, the Muslims of Gurgaon on Thursday 18 November said that they will offer a symbolic prayer on Friday 19 November at one of the Gurdwara in Gurugram which will be consisting only ten people as the Sikhs will celebrate Guru Nanak birthday on this day.

President of All India Peace Mission, Daya Singh says that space will be provided to Muslim brothers for Friday Namaz as they are facing disruptions in open spaces. He says that their community wants to spread love and peace and this initiative will bring the two communities together.

The Administration of Gurugram had earlier taken over the permission of offering prayer by the Muslims at 8 out of 37 specified places but the permission was later canceled following an objection from Residents Welfare Association (RWA) and also from the local people.

The people living in Gurugram have numerous complaints and led several protests on different occasions against the offering of Friday namaz by Muslims in public places. On 29 October from the Hindu right-wing groups, 35 people protesting against the Friday namaz with an attempt to disturb in prayers were arrested.

The Hindu right-wing groups led by the Hindu Nationalist volunteer organization such as Sanyukt Hindu Sangharsh Samiti and other organization over the past two months has been disrupting Muslims in offering Namaz in open spaces mainly in Sector 12.

The Gurgaon Muslim Council has decided to hold a felicitation event in Sector 12 for the management of Gurdwara and other members of the Sikh community for their generous act of providing space for Namaz.
