NEW DELHI: ICC umpire Anil Chaudhary who is stuck in his ancestral village in UP is now having to climb trees to access mobile network connection so that he can access ICC’s online programmes for umpires. His son who is with him are also having problems to access online lessons.

“The biggest problem is the network here. I can’t talk to anyone or use the internet. To be able to do that I have to go outside the village, climb up a tree or go to the rooftop. Then also the network is not available all the time,” Chaudhary said.

He got stuck in the village as lockdown was imposed which is why he could not return to Delhi.

The umpire was supposed to officiate in the India-South Africa ODI series which was called off due to coronavirus outbreak.
