India celebrates 89th birth anniversary of APJ Abdul Kalam; Here's why it matters

From being the people's President to spearheading the development of the most significant Indian missiles and nuclear weapons programs, former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's 89th birth anniversary is being celebrated today across the nation.

On this day, it is also celebrated as World Students Day every year across the globe to mark the anniversary of our renowned scientist APJ Abdul Kalam.

India's Missile man was born on October 15, 1931, at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu.

Although his life as a student was very challenging, and filled with austerity and struggles, his contribution to India's missile research and development has been unparalleled.

There was a time when he used to sell newspapers from door to door to support his family and education.

Legend APJ Abdul Kalam was not just an aerospace scientist but also worked with two major space research organisations namely Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
