"MRSAM-Army missile system flight tested from ITR Balasore, Odisha at around 1030 hours intercepting a high-speed aerial target at long range," DRDO tweeted.

As per DRDO, the target was destroyed by the missile in a direct hit.

The MRSAM system is capable of engaging multiple targets at ranges up to 70 km in severe saturation scenarios.

Significantly, India is continuously increasing its defence budget. The focus of the country is to become self-reliant in the defence sector. Therefore, the central government is working continuously to reduce India's defence import (import) and increase export (export).

Notably, India's arms exports have jumped 6-fold in the last eight years.

In the current financial year, India has so far exported arms worth Rs 11607 crore.

''In the financial year 2014-15, India had exported weapons worth 1941 crores, which has now reached Rs 11,607 crores in the financial year 2021-22,'' Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt had informed Lok Sabha.
