Indrani Mukerjea Apporaches Court Seeking 2 More Months To Procure Surety

New Delhi: Sheena Bora murder accused, Indrani Mukherjee, who once had millions in her hand, has sought an extension on the two weeks which was granted to her to furnish the surety Rs 2 lakh.

A special CBI court in Mumbai on May 18 allowed Indrani Mukerjea to be released on bail on a cash surety of Rs 2 lakh. After this she came out of jail, but due to money crunch, she has not been able to deposit the bond amount till now.

She was given two weeks by the court to furnish a bond of Rs 2 lakh, which started on May 19 and ended on June 1 which she failed to do so. Following this, Mukerjea has once again approached the court seeking extension.

Mukerjea's lawyer Sana Raees Khan informed the court that at present she is unable to furnish the bail bond as her phone is with the CBI and also she has come out of jail after 6.5 years. So, her personal contact has been lost.

Khan also apprised court that it will take more time to deposit the bail amount and accordingly sought extension for 8 weeks. However, Public Prosecutor Abhinav Krishna strongly objected to the application on the ground that sufficient time has already been granted, no proper reason has been given for extension of time and hence the application should be dismissed.

After hearing the arguments of both the sides, Justice Naik Nimbalkar, ''Keeping in mind the entirely of circumstances, I am of the considered view that further time needs to be granted to her to comply with the bail order.''

However, the judge said that 8 weeks is a bit much, so four weeks will sufficient.
