It's Futile to Debate Death Data, Dead Won't Come Back to Life: Manohar Khattar

Haryana- The Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar today remarked that it is futile to discuss the number of COVID-induced fatalities as the dead won't come back to life. He added by saying that the primary focus now should be on the recovery of the COVID-19 affected patients.

"Given the dangerous situation we are in now, we should not have debates over data now. We should instead focus on how people recover from the disease," he was quoted as saying by ANI.

When presented with the allegations of data fudging of the state's death toll, Khattar responded by saying, "Those who died will never come back. We will try our best to save everyone. There's no point debating if the number of deaths is actually more or less."

Haryana reported the highest single-day spike in the number of COVID-induced fatalities with 75 more people succumbing to this deadly infectious disease on Monday with the total death toll of the state amounting to 3,842. The state also reported 11,504 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking the total tally of the caseload in the state to 4.32 lakhs.

Manohar Lal Khattar claimed that the state has no shortage of the supply of medical oxygen and that the state government is prepared to ensure that the people do not face any difficulties in the fight against the deadly coronavirus infection.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Dushyant Chautala requested Union minister Piyush Goyal to include remdesivir, oxygen, and other items used to treat Covid-19 patients in the Essential Commodities list.

Meanwhile, India on Monday reported 3.23 lakh fresh COVID-19 cases taking the total caseload of the country to over 1.76 crores. 2,771 COVID-induced deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours with the total death toll now amounting to over 1.97 lakhs. There are over 28.74 lakh active cases of the novel coronavirus in the country. However, India finally saw a downward spiral in the number of COVID-19 cases with 8.4% fewer cases than the previous day. It is the sixth consecutive day that over 3 lakh cases have been reported in the country.
