NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today has commended the achievement of 11 crore tap water supply connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). PM Modi also congratulated the ones who have benefitted from this initiative and acclaimed the hard work of those working around the clock on the ground to make this Mission a success.

Union Cabinet Minister in Ministry of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday took to Twitter to announce achieving the mega milestone of 11 crore tap water connections under the JJM.

The JJM Minister also said that the vision of PM Modi, the persistent pursuit of the objectives set out for the Jal Jeevan Mission by the ministry and the endeavors of the entire team on the ground have made this mega milestone possible. 11 crore homes are now guaranteed of health and well-being with this potion of life reaching their doorways," Shekhawat added.

The Jal Jeevan Mission was launched by the Central Government in 2019 to empower every rural household across the nation to have the facility of potable tap water supply by 2024. The JJM is being implemented by the Centre in partnership with states and Union Territories. At the time of the declaration of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), 3.23 crore, which is 17 percent of households appeared to have tap water supply connections.
