SRINAGAR: Two explosions took place in two parked buses in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur city within a span of 8 hours which left two persons injured.

A police official said that the first explosion took place in a parked bus near a petrol pump at Domail Chowk, Udhampur at around 10:30 pm yesterday. Two persons suffered minor injuries but the bus's windows and front glass were completely shattered, which has been recorded in CCTV footage of a shop nearby.

Security personnel with the local Jammu Police rushed to the area to take stock of the situation and to collect more information about the blast and the CCTV footage to find out who is involved in this attack.

Just around daybreak the hill station again witnessed another blast at around 6 AM in a parked bus in Old Udhampur Bus Station. No casualties were reported in the blast as it was quite early in the morning as the hill city experiences the morning rush at around 8:30-9:00 AM, a police official said.

The Jammu Police has launched a probe into the twin blasts in the city which has made the people of Udhampur vulnerable and has beefed up the security in the region so as to curb any such nefarious activities in the future.

Udhampur witnessed a similar incident earlier this year in March when a low-intensity IED blast took place in Slathia Chowk, Udhampur in which one person was killed and 14 others were injured.

According to fresh reports, the probe into this twin blasts case is likely to handed over to National Investigation Agency(NIA), even as a team of elite officers of the agency have been sent to Jammu and Kashmir by the Defence Ministry. The team is likely to take charge of all the documents regarding the blast from the local police.
