BARAMULLA: Two more terrorists having links to the proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed(JeM) were gunned down by a platoon of Jammu Police and security forces in an early morning encounter today. 

The operation against the terrorists took place in the Pattan area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, according to a police source. 

The police are yet to disclose the identities of the slain terrorists but have launched search operations in the encounter area in Pattan. 

The Senior Superintendent of Police, Baramulla Rayees Mohammad Bhat in a statement said, "On basis of intelligence inputs, Army police & SSB parties conducted a search in a village after cordoning off area & killed 2 unidentified terrorists in an encounter. 1 AKS-74U & 3 magazines, 1 pistol & its magazine, 2 bullets were recovered in the operation". 

According to sources, the two slain JeM militants targeted the Agniveer army rally when bullets rained in the area between the security forces and the militants. 

This was the second such encounter between security forces and the JeM militants this week, the first was two days ago when the security forces killed two JeM militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam Valley. 

Those killed have been identified as Mohammad Shafi Ganie of Batpora, Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir, and Mohammad Asif Wani aka Yawar of Takia Gopalpora in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

One AK series rifle, one pistol, grenades, and other warlike stores have been recovered from their possession.

An army soldier and two civilians were injured in the operation and all of them were shifted to the hospital for further treatment. 

According to data released by police sources, Security forces have killed 154 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir this year, including 41 from Pakistan. 20 security personnel and 21 civilians have lost their lives.

Jammu and Kashmir after the scrapping of Article 370 which gave Jammu and Kashmir a special status have given the army a strong hand over the terrorists.
