Mumbai: In a recent TV interview, Bollywood writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar had commented about right-wings all over the world having an uncanny similarity.

He said, "The Taliban want an Islamic country. These people want to make a Hindu Rashtra."

Though the writer-lyricist had not directly mentioned the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), his comment comparing the RSS with the Tabilan has infuriated many influential politicians who have called out the writer. A BJP MLA of Maharashtra has demanded an apology from the writer for his remark.

Following the demand, security has been tightened outside the writer's residence on Monday. A team of police has been deployed outside his home in the Juhu area near the Iscon Temple. Security personnel, including women constables, have been placed for increased security.

Javed Akhtar has also been called out by the Shiv Sena for his comment who said that Akhtar was completely wrong in making such a comment.

BJP MLA and state party spokesperson Ram Kadam had announced that any film that involves Javed Akhtar will not be allowed to be screened in the country until the writer apologizes to Sangh functionaries.

In a recent event organised by Muslim Rashtriya Manch, the chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, while addressing an audience in his speech had claimed that the people belonging to Hinduism and Islam have descended from the same ancestors that has existed for the last 4,000 years.

In his speech, RSS chief Bhagwat said, "The concept of Hindu-Muslim unity is misquoted because there is no difference between them as it has been proven that we are the descendants of the same ancestors from the last 40,000 years. People of India have the same DNA.
