Jayanti Chauhan To Lead Bisleri After Tata Junks Purchase Plans

NEW DELHI: Ramesh Chauhan, the chairman of Bisleri International, has stated in an interview that his daughter Jayanti Chauhan will be in charge of the bottled water business.

This comes a few days after Tata Consumer Products declared that it had halted talks with Bisleri International about possibly acquiring the world's largest manufacturer of bottled water.

In an interview, Chauhan stated, "Jayanti will operate the company with our expert team, and we do not want to sell the business."

"The company wishes to update that it has now ceased negotiations with Bisleri with regard to a potential transaction," Tata Consumer Products stated in a stock exchange filing on Friday, March 17, 2023. "The company has not entered into any definitive agreement or binding commitment on this matter," the company added.

Jayanti will cooperate with the expert management group under the direction of Angelo George, according to those with knowledge of the situation. Jayanti has occasionally worked for the company over the years.

In recent years, she has concentrated on the Vedika brand, which is a component of Bisleri's portfolio.

According to a November 2022 story, Bisleri International and Tata Group are negotiating for Tata Group to purchase the business for between Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,000 crore.

Ramesh Chauhan, the chairman of Bisleri International, had stated in an interview at the time, "I admire the Tata culture of values and honesty, and hence made up my mind despite the animosity shown by other interested bidders."

On March 1, 2023, certain differences about the value of Bisleri had caused the two-year-old negotiations between Tata Consumer Products and Bisleri International to stall. But, according to the most recent story, which cited sources, there were no differences regarding valuation.

Tata Consumer Products cancelled the agreement with the biggest bottled water company in India as a result of its "indecisiveness."

Sunil D'Souza, managing director of Tata Consumer Products, said during previous earnings calls that acquisitions continue to be a key component of the company's growth plan.
