Jio Fiber, the much-awaited super-speed internet services have finally been announced by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday. As announced in the meeting, the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service is to start on 5 September and will come for a base price of Rs 700 to be offered with 100Mbps speed.
Notably, exactly a year ago, i.e., on 12 August 2018 the telecom company had announced its Jio Fiber plans but not much on its data plans and data speeds were revealed.
As revealed today, the cheapest price for the Jio Fiber data plan will be Rs 700/month with speeds capped at 100Mbps.
However, the costliest price for the Jio Fiber plan is around Rs 10,000 per month which will come with unlimited access to broadband, Jio HomeTV and Jio's IoT.
Mukesh Ambani, speaking on the new plans and offers of Jio Fiber, said, "ISD calling tariffs would be 1/5th to 1/10th of industry rates. We are offering unlimited US/Canada pack at Rs 500 per month." It was also added by him that there will be landline services with all Fiber packages and the voice calling to any Indian operator will be made free.
Another plan introduced by Ambani in the meeting was the Jio Forever Plans which will give an HD or 4k LED television and 4k set-top box for free to its users. He added, "We are calling this the Jio Fiber Welcome Offer. I invite all of you to make the most of our Welcome Offer, and sign up for Jio Fiber as soon as it is available in your neighbourhood." However the complete list on the tariffs and the data plans will be available to the users on 5 September only.
The Ambani siblings, Akash and Isha said that the speed of the network will range in between 100Mbps and 1Gbps and they also informed about the compatibility of various applications like digital TV and cloud gaming.
