Shopian: At least three army personnel were left injured after an explosion, which took place inside their "private hired" vehicle, in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, police said.

Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir said that the nature of the blast is being investigated.

He also added that it is unclear as to whether the blast occurred due to a grenade or already planted IED inside the vehicle or malfunctioning of battery.

"A #blast took place inside a private hired vehicle at Sedow, #Shopian. 03 soldiers injured & shifted to Hospital. Nature & source (blast due to grenade or already planted IED inside vehicle or malfunctioning of battery) of blast being investigated & will be shared: IGP Kashmir," Kashmir Zone police tweeted early this morning.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to hold a high-level meeting so as to discuss the prevailing security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and it comes in the wake of a recent rise in violent incidents in the valley.

Of late, terrorists have been carrying out targeted killings in the valley. 

Earlier on Tuesday, terrorists opened fire at a Hindu school teacher going by the name of Rajni Bala in the Kulgam district of the Kashmir region.

Jammu and Kashmir Police informed that the incident took place High School Gopalpora area of Kulgam. The teacher was immediately rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
