New Delhi: The Kartarpur Corridor re-opened on Wednesday due to decline in COVID cases nearly after 20 months.

The Kartarpur Corridor connects Sikhs shrines in India and Pakistan.

Home Minister Amit Shah took to the micro-blogging site twitter and said, "In a major decision, that will benefit large numbers of Sikh pilgrims, PM @Narendramodi govt has decided to re-open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor from tomorrow, Nov 17. This decision reflects the immense reverence of Modi govt towards Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and our Sikh community".

Although, this corridor was opened in the year 2019 itself but within just four months it was closed in March 2020 due to Corona. Now, this shrine is being reopened once again after about one and a half years. The Government of India made an announcement in this regard on Tuesday.

However, those who wants to visit the sacred place should know how to register themselves online. Here, we will tell you about the steps to register through online step by step.

Now, let's us understand step by step that how one can book/register themselves on the Kartarpur corridor website

Step 1: Log on to the Ministry of Home Affairs' website,https://prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in/kpr/

Step 2: It is suggested that one should read the 'Instructions for Filling Registration Form' before beginning the booking process

Step 3: Select date of journey and nationality, and then press 'Continue'

Step 4: Fill 'Part A' of the Kartarpur Corridor registration form and click on 'Save & Continue'. After this, fill in the remaining parts.

Step 5: Once you have completed, you will receive a registration number and a PDF copy of the form. Save the PDF file for future use and take a note of the registration number.

Step 6: Pilgrims will receive an SMS and e-mail regarding the confirmation of registration three to four days prior to the date of travel.
