Keys missing: Corona patient dies inside locked ICU in MP

Madhya Pradesh: In a tragic incident a novel coronavirus positive patient died in a locked Intensive Care Unit(ICU) at a private hospital of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, allegedly, for the hospital staff’s carelessness. The patient, who was a 54-year-old woman identified as Laxmibai Chauhan was admitted to RD Gardi Medical College a few days ago for showing symptoms of infection of the novel coronavirus. On Saturday, she died in a locked ICU. The police sources informed that the hospital staff could not unlock the ICU door when she cried for help. One relative of her, who stayed outside the ICU searched for the hospital staff but in vain as the on-duty staff were absent. After somewhile, some staff members tried to enter the ICU but they could not do so as they had lost the keys. Later, she was found dead. The patient was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure. Meanwhile, the hospital administration took disciplinary action against the on-duty staff. Around 104 people have tested coronavirus positive and six died from the pandemic in Madhya Pradesh so far.
