Latest update of Google Photos add 3D 'Cinematic' feature. Read to find out more

New Delhi: In the latest update for Google photos on Tuesday, pictures will turn your 2D photos into 3D ones and over the next month, people will start to see the Memories feature brought to life with Cinematic photos option.

Google said that the Cinematic photos use machine learning to predict an image's depth and automatically produce a 3D representation of the scene or picture, even the original image does not include the depth information from the camera. This latest update is going to give a new edge to your gallery.

The latest update enables users to use memories from years past, which will be expanded to include 3D Cinematic photos, updated collage designs and new types of Memories.

These 'new types' of Memories may include those of the most important people in your life or your favourite muses like sunsets, activities such as baking or hiking, or whatever else seems to matter most to you, based on the photos you usually upload or post.

Google has also enabled its users to hide specific people or time periods in the app in case there are parts of your photo history that you don't want to see resurfaced in Memories can be hidden.

You can also Toggle Off the option to be notified about Memories if this is not a feature you like.

Now, the new types of Memories can be challenging where users are mostly stuck at home due to the pandemic and often have found diversion and entertainment in a different set of activities.

Instead of travelling or engaging in parties or concerts, people have stayed close to home and have spent quality time with the family. The new Memories will help to surface some of these 'favourite activities' which kept users engaged and healthy.

As Google Photos create new Cinematic Photos, users will be alerted through a notification. The new image will appear in the recent highlight section at the top of the photo grid.

All features will finish rolling out over the next month, Google notes. Users will have to update their version of Google Photos app to see the enhancement.
