Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tests COVID-19 positive

Guwahati: Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, revealed on Saturday that he has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

"My dear countrymen, I had symptoms of Covid-19 and after the test, my report has come back positive. I appeal to all my colleagues that whoever has come in contact with me, get their COVID-19 test done. And my close contacts should go into quarantine," Shivraj Singh Chouhan wrote in a tweet in Hindi.

"If covid-19 is treated on time, a person is completely cured. I have been reviewing the status of corona infection every evening since March 25. I will try to review corona with video conferencing as much as possible now," Chouhan added.

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister added that in his absence, the meeting will be held by home minister Narottam Mishra, urban development and administration minister Bhuppendra Singh, health education minister Vishvas Sarang and health minister Dr Prabhuram Choudhary. He further added that he will continue to do everything possible to help control Covid-19 in the state during his treatment.

As per the Indian Minister of Health and Family Welfare, the number of COVID-19 cases in the country is nearing the 5 lakh-mark. As of now, the number of active cases stands at 4,57,410, out of which 31,425 people have succumbed to their deaths. The total caseload in the country stands at 13,39,130, out of which the number recovered cases stands at 8,50,292 cases.
