Maharashtra: 14 Persons Injured After Flyover Collapses In Mumbai

Investigations are currently being conducted by officials to confirm whether any person is trapped under the debris after the collapse of the flyover.

Mumbai: A total of fourteen persons has been injured after a segment of a flyover collapsed at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The incident is said to have taken place in the early hours of Friday. The flyover was under construction and is located at Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR). The flyover was being constructed to solve traffic woes on the east-west link and the Bandra-Kurla Complex area, which is considered one of the biggest business districts of Mumbai.

The place of the incident is currently being investigated by the city police and the fire brigade personnel. 

As per the statement made by an official of the fire brigade, the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation informed, "A total of 14 persons are injured after a part of a bridge collapsed in Bandra Kurla Complex, Bandra East, earlier today. The condition of all the injured persons is stable."

"A portion of the under-construction flyover connecting BKC main road and Santa Cruz–Chembur Link Road collapsed around 4:30 am. 13 people have sustained minor injuries & have been shifted to a hospital. There is no life loss and no person is missing," added DCP of Zone 8, Manjunath Singe.

The officials are also checking whether an individual is trapped under the debris. 

According to an official, the injured who have been admitted to the Vile Parle-based VN Desai Hospital have been said to be in a stable condition by the doctor of the hospital.

All of the injured are workers, ranging from 21 to 49 years old, and were conducting some work on the girder when it fell down.
