Man in Karnataka arrested for issuing death threats against Narendra Modi and Amit Shah

New Delhi: A man called Anwar has been arrested for spreading online hate messages where he had allegedly threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah if the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 affected Muslims.

CAA aims to protect religiously persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan by giving them Indian Citizenship. The cut-off date for those to be given citizenship in India has been fixed at, on or before 31st December 2014.

He was accused of spreading audio messages through WhatsApp where he was provoking people to take part in communal violence. His messages had gone viral.

A complaint was registered by someone called Yathish at the Vittal police station.

According to reports, officials arrested him during his visit to his hometown in Peruvai on January 6.
