Man in Rajasthan files police complaint for finding his lost chappals

Guwahati: In a bizarre instance of a complaint filed by a man, a particular case has come into light wherein a man has filed a police complaint about losing a pair of chappals! A man, named Rajesh Gupta, who is a resident of Rajasthan, in his complaint filed with police, has asked the police to find a pair of chappals that were being recently chosen by his wife for him. As stated by the man, the chappals cost Rs 800 and he cannot bear to see them lost.

As stated by Gupta, he lost his chappals on putting off outside a private diagnostics laboratory opposite the Tondiarpet post office on Thiruvottiyur High Road. The incident took place on Sunday as he had gone to the laboratory for a blood test. On returning from the blood test after 10 minutes, Gupta discovered that his pair of chappals was missing.

Gupta immediately complained about the theft of his chappals to the laboratory staff but they said they did not notice anything. On this, he approached the Tondiarpet police station and lodged a formal complaint on the loss of his chappals and also added that it was only the previous day that he had bought this pair of chappals and this was his wife’s choice for him.

The police have, however, accepted Gupta’s complaint and issued the community service register. This is considered to be one stage before filing a first information report (FIR).

As stated by the police, since the lab closed early on Sunday, they could not conduct inquiries and collect CCTV camera footage. Hence, they reached the laboratory on Monday and got to know from the staff that the CCTV camera of the lab has not been in operation for a couple of days.

After a thorough investigation and as it is the fault of the laboratory to not keep a working CCTV in the lab, the laboratory has agreed to pay Gupta Rs800.

With the news of Gupta lodging, a complaint in search of his shoes has gone viral now. When being asked by the media, a furious Gupta said, “Don’t mock me for making a complaint to the police.”
