Greater Noida: The shocking incident of a twelve year old minor boy from Greater Noida being sexually assaulted by a teenager school senior has recently come to light. According to reports, the victim, who is currently studying in Class VI of a reputed Greater Noida school, rang up the Childline 1098 helpline last week and informed the authorities of his sexual assault which has been recurring since the last three years. Following this, the 17-year-old accused was booked under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the IPC and also under Section 3 and 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and was sent to a juvenile observation home.

The assaulter in addition to being his school senior, was also the neighbour of the minor boy and even used to go to school in the same bus.  According to the complaint lodged afterwards by the victim's father at the Sector Beta 2 Police Station, "The juvenile, a neighbour, studies in class 12 in the same school. He is five years older to the victim and used to go to school with my son in the same bus. His father is our family friend and hence the two children were also friends. However, for the last four years, he has sexually abused my son. He used to call my son to his house, remove his clothes and abuse him."

The minor who was also mentally affected by the repeated assaults, has been undergoing depression since the last three years and had sought help from his parents and sisters too. He opened up about his trauma first in front of his parents in October 2018 who then confronted the accused's parents. Although this led to the accused's family moving out of the neighbourhood, the incidents did not necessarily stop. As per the child's narrative to the Childline authorities, he discussed the issue with his sisters who encouraged him in searching up the Child helpline number on Internet and reporting the miscreant's assaults.

However, after the twelve year old boy's agitated report was taken into consideration, the Childline authorities asked the Child Welfare Committee to counsel him and help him recover his trauma. Satya Prakash, programme manager of FXB India Suraksha Childline, said "Our counsellor talked to the victim in detail and then informed his parents, who then filed a complaint. The child is improving now," he said.
