Missing PUBG and TikTok? Don't worry, apps coming back to India

New Delhi: The Indian government banned 117 applications in June, including TikTok, PUBG and WeChat, for being a threat to national security. The Indian government stated these apps are "prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state, and public order".

PUBG Mobile, a Korean company with millions of downloads in India has a new version specially curated for Indian gamers.

TikTok too hopes to make a comeback to the gaming market of India as they are still retaining their employees and is in the process of working out an arrangement with the government.

In a letter by the Head of TikTok, India, Nikhil Gandhi, told the company's employees that they are trying to comply with the local laws, requirements for data security and privacy.

There are speculations in the market that Microsoft, Reliance or Airtel may take over TikTok. However, no announcements have been made to confirm the news.

Gandhi said he is optimistic about a positive outcome while clarifying to the government about its safety and privacy policies. Together, with employees, they devote themselves to keeping their users happy and satisfied, and, to the creators who not only found recognition but also new avenues of livelihood through the TikTok app.

Chinese-owned ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, has over 2000 employees in India who have received a salary bonus, keeping in mind the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, and also received more training during this time.

Amidst border tensions between China and Eastern Ladakh in June, the government of India had taken a decision to ban maximum Chinese developed apps to prevent privacy pilfering because the Centre said it had received several complaints from various sources about the misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and Ios where information was alleged to transmit data servers outside of India.
