MS Dhoni to Leave Hotel Last After Other CSK Players Reach Home Safely

Former captain of the Indian Cricket Team Mahindra Singh Dhoni informed the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) management that he will be the last to vacate the hotel in order to ensure that his teammates reach home safely. After his teammates reach their destinations safely, the CSK captain will exit the bio-bubble and boarding the flight back to his home in Ranchi.

"Mahi bhai said that he will be the last person to leave the hotel. He wanted foreigners to leave first, then the Indian players. He will be taking the last flight tomorrow when everyone reaches their home safe and secure," said an anonymous CSK member.

The CSK team had been staying in a hotel in Delhi when several IPL players and others associated with the tournament tested positive for the novel coronavirus leading to the BCCI suspending the remainder of the 2021 IPL season indefinitely. Read more

The suspension order comes right after the captain of Delhi Capitals' Amit Mishra and Sunrisers Hyderbad's Wriddhiman Saha tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Wriddhiman Saha after testing COVID-19 positive May 3 has been in isolation while Delhi Capitals' Amit Mishra tested positive the following day. The two players from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were the first players to test positive for the novel coronavirus within the IPL bio-bubble.

However, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla told the media that the IPL has only been suspended for the time being, hinting at the possibility of the tournament resuming again if the circumstances favor it.

A report further stated, "CSK organized a charter flight for its players from Delhi. A ten-seater flight carrying CSK players went to Rajkot and Mumbai in the morning while the evening charter plane dropped players from Bangalore and Chennai. Dhoni is scheduled to fly on Thursday evening to his home in Ranchi."

Bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji, batting coach Michael Hussey and a member of the support staff were among the people in the CSK camp to contracted the virus.

CSK looked like the dominant team in the first half of the tournament this season after having suffered a poor last season.
