Mumbai Man Murders Live-In Partner, Chops Body Into 20 Pieces, Boils Body Parts In Cooker

MUMBAI: In a throwback to the gruesome Shraddha Walker murder case, a 56-year-old man in Mumbai's Mira Road has been arrested by the police on the charge of murdering his live-in partner at his rented apartment and chopping her body into 20 pieces.

More appalling details emerged when the police said that the woman’s body parts were boiled by the accused in a pressure cooker and were later filled into plastic bags for the purpose of disposing them.

The accused man, identified as Manoj Sahani, had been living together for the past three years with 36 year-old Saraswati Vaidya in flat 704 of Geeta Akash Deep building in Mira Road in Geeta Nagar Phase 7.

Nayanagar police station is said to have received a call from the building ‘s residents on Wednesday evening, following which the police rushed to the spot to investigate the couple’s flat from which the foul smell was emanating. The team found the decomposed body of the woman, which was chopped up into several pieces.

The decomposed state of the body parts found in the house made the police suspect that the murder could have taken place three to four days ago.

Jayant Bajbale, deputy commissioner of police (Zone 1) said that Manoj Sahani and Saraswati Vaidya were in a live-in relationship and used to live in the Geeta Akash Deep building. Following a fight the couple had over some matter, the woman was murdered by her partner. Her body was found to have been cut into several pieces with a cutter.

“When we reached the house and opened the door, we understood it was a case of murder and the suspect tried to hide the evidence," Bajbale is quoted as saying.
