Mumbai Minor Boy Spends Rs. 10 Lakh on PUBG, Flees From Home

MUMBAI: In what may be described as a typical example of online gaming addiction, a minor boy of Mumbai city's Jogeshwari locality has allegedly spent a whopping amount of Rs. 10 lakh by doing online transactions for playing PUBG.

As per reports, the boy (whose age is about 16 years) was rebuked by his parents after they came to know about the online transaction of Rs. 10 lakh following which he ran away from home. The matter was thereafter informed to the police by the parents. The boy was subsequently found out by the police from Mahakali Caves in Andheri West and sent back to his parents.

On Wednesday, the boy's father had reported the incident to the police (by registering a missing diary) after which the matter came to light. A case of abduction was registered by the police (as the boy was a minor) and a probe was initiated.

The boy's parents informed the police while the investigation was going on that their son developed an addiction to playing the PUBG games for the past month. The boy had spent Rs. 10 lakh from his mother's bank account for getting an ID and virtual currency to play the online game. After the parents got to know about the online transaction, they rebuked the boy, who thereafter left the home leaving a letter for his parents.

The police, by using information from a number of people and analyzing various aspects, succeeded in tracing the teenager the next day. He was then counseled and sent back to his parents.

Last year, a minor boy of Delhi had spent a sum of over Rs. 2 lakh by playing PUBG. He had made online transactions using his grandfather's bank account.
