Muslim Man Lynched For Supporting BJP And Celebrating Party's Win In Uttar Pradesh

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim man was beaten to death by people from his own community for supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The young man was brutally killed for celebrating the party's victory in state assembly elections and for chanting 'Jai Shree Ram.'

The incident took place in the Kushinagar area of Uttar Pradesh soon after the assembly polls were held in the state.

The deceased youth has been identified as Babar, a resident of UP's Kushinagar who went on to celebrate the victory of BJP by distributing sweets among locals.

As informed by Varun Kumar Pandey, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Babar had earlier complained about receiving death threats but no action was taken by that time.

According to the family members, some of the locals attacked Babar while he was returning from his shop after which he had received severe injuries.

Babar was later admitted to a hospital in Lucknow where he was declared dead by the doctors during treatment.

The mortal remains of the victim were sent to his village but the family members refused to perform the last rites as they demanded the arrest of culprits behind the murder case.

The family claims that Babar chanted 'Jai Shree Ram' when he was hit by neighbours of the area. Babar had received many death threats from his own Muslim community who threatened him to stop campaigning for the BJP in assembly elections.

Earlier, he had even sought police protection but no one heard his request. The family of the deceased has now filed an FIR against the accused under relevant sections.

Meanwhile, the chief minister of the state Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the incident and gave a free hand to the police to arrest the culprits involved in the lynching case and take strict action.

The CM further assured all possible support to the family members of the deceased. Police arrested two persons in relation to the case and started a thorough investigation to find out other accused and nab them.
