Guwahati, November 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised fast-tracked development, seamless connectivity while egging on Mizoram to vote for the BJP in an election rally at Lunglei on Friday. Excerpts:

  • The BJP in the Centre and State will take Mizoram to a new high of development.
  • I have come here to seek your blessings for the BJP.
  • Mizoram has rich culture and traditions which you have preserved well. Your songs, dances, dresses are unique and wonderful. Your colours are linked to nature.
  • During the last four years the BJP government in the Centre has worked tirelessly for spread of country’s rich culture and traditions far and wide unlike the Congress.
  • Congress has no concern for your aspirations and values. Congress is concerned only about the seat of power, not the people.
  • Our country has now understood the Congress formula of divide and rule. That is why the Congress which used to rule the entire country, has now been reduced to ruling on 2-3 states in the country.
  • The people of the Mizoram now has the golden opportunity to rid themselves of Congress culture.
  • The BJP is committed to protect all the constitutional rights granted to the people of Mizoram besides pursuing its agenda of all-encompassing development.
  • Pursuing its policy of ‘Act East and Act Fast’ for India’s East, the BJP in the last four and half years has connected the Northeast to all development process taking place in the country
  • We have connected the Northeast to the rest of India and made the region gateway to embolden ties with Asian neighbours.
  • May 27, 2016 remains a red letter day for Mizoram as the state was put on the broad gauge railway network that day when I inaugurated Silchar-Bhairabi BG Railway line.
  • Rs 5000 crore Bhairabi-Sairang BG line project will be completed within one and a half years.
  • Rs 8000 crore road projects are being implemented Mizoram as on date while the Centre is spending Rs 93,000 crore for road projects in the entire Northeast. Including 5000 km national highways.
  • The infrastructure projects are creating various employment avenues in the region and once connectivity is improved the tourism sector will receive a major boost.
  • The BJP is committed to tap the power potential of Mizoram which is now plagued by power shortage thanks to inaction on part of Congress government.
  • The Congress government did not care to respond to Centre’s initiative to build PMAY houses for poor in Mizoram. The Congress should be made to pay price for its anti-poor attitude.
