National Tourism Day is observed every year across the country on 25 January in view of appreciating the country's beauty and spreading awareness regarding the tourism sector in India along with its impact on the economy.

Tourism has a big impact on the economy of the country therefore on this day of National Tourism Day people take time to give a thought to preserving the tourist places located in various regions of the country.

Throughout recent years, the country as well as the entire world has struggled in its tourism sectors in view of the global pandemic.

This year National Tourism Day is celebrated across the country on Tuesday 25 January.

Various states across the country are preparing for events with the objective of promoting the tourism sectors in their areas which plays a major role in economic growth and development.

THEME:

The theme for National Tourism Day 2022 is Rural and Community Centric Tourism.

Events Scheduled:

The ministry of tourism is observing the National Tourism Day under the support of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which is a 75 years old huge celebration marking 75 years of the country's independence.

Different types of cultural events and seminars will be organized by the government in collaboration with the Telangana government.

The main event is prepared by the Central government in the Pochampally village in Telangana which is a weaver's hamlet on the boundaries of the state Hyderabad.

In November 2021, the Pochampally village of Telangana was chosen as the best tourism village by the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization). The Pochampally village received the tag for being known widely because of hand-woven Ikat saris in the region.

Several functions, cultural events and other programmes will be organized at 75 major tourism centres in every tourist place located in different parts of India.

On Monday 24 January, the tourism ministry revealed the Pictorial Quiz of the Indian Tourism and the aim of this quiz is to present the various tourism items, culture, cuisine and architecture. The quiz will test the knowledge of tourism available across India.
