Outstanding loans of 2100 Bihar farmers paid off by Amitabh Bachchan

Mumbai: What can be a more warm and humane gesture as this than seeing the Bollywood megastar paying off the loans of more than two thousand Bihar farmers! This is an extraordinary sight and news for one to learn in today’s date when the world is reeling under corruptions, brutality, and lack of humanity.

Taking to share his joy and relief on paying off the loans, Mr. Bachchan wrote on his blog: "A promise made, done... the farmers from Bihar that had outstanding loans, picked 2100 of them and paid off their amount with a OTS (One Time Settlement) with the bank... called some of them over to Janak and personally gave it to them at the hands of Shweta and Abhishek."

The Bachchan siblings, Sweta and Abhishek joined their father in this great deed and relieved the burdens of the farmers from Bihar.

Earlier, the biggest star of Hindi cinema had written it that he is preparing to gift loan paybacks for those who are unable to pay their loans off and for the time being, it is the turn for the Bihar farmers.

The generous actor has previous instances too of helping the farmers. Before this, he was seen clearing the loans of more than a thousand farmers in Uttar Pradesh. At that time, Bachchan paid off a loan of around Rs 4 crore on behalf of the farmers. However, this seems not to be over yet, as he has also written on his blog that "another promise to be completed".

As stated by him, "To the family and wives of the brave hearts that sacrificed their lives for the country, at Pulwama, a small gesture of financial aid .. true 'shaheeds'," there will be something for the families of the Pulwama martyrs which he had promised immediately after the unfortunate incident took place.

If everybody starts showing such instances of generosity like Amitabh Bachchan, the heart-rending news of the farmers' suicide would perhaps start disappearing from the nation.
