New Delhi: At least more than 400 Parliament staff have tested positive for COVID-19, after screens were conducted on January 6 and 7.

According to reports, around 1400 staff members were tested, and over 400 tested positive for COVID-19. Interestingly, most of those staff who have been tested positive for the virus are asymptomatic.

Notably, they have been tested ahead of the budget session.

However, it is yet to ascertain that how many of the staff tested positive for Omicron as that can only be reveal after genome sequencing of the samples is done.

Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha secretariat has also started booster dose vaccinations for MPs above 60 years as per government guidelines.

India, on Sunday, logged a total of 1,59,632 new COVID-19 infections which is the highest single-day COVID numbers in 224 days.

The number of active COVID cases in India also increased to 5,90,611 – the highest in the last 197 days.

On the other hand, the case tally of the Omicron variant of the virus has reached 3,623 in the country.
