Patiala: On Friday 29 April, a massive clash broke out between Sikh radicals and right-wing groups in the Patiala district of Punjab which resulted in a distressful situation.

Soon after a day of the clash, the newly appointed Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday ordered the transfer of three senior police officers.

The 3 officers suspended are SP Harpal Singh, IGP (Inspector General of Police) Rakesh Agarwal and SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) Nanak Singh.

The government of Punjab took strict action against the top officials for their failure in controlling the situation of violence in Patiala on Friday.

Meanwhile, internet services including 4G, 3G, 2G, and CDMS across the district have been suspended in order to bring the situation under control and maintain peace among the masses.

The CM office released an official statement which states 'revealing the details a CM office spokesperson said that Mukhwinder Singh Chinna has been appointed as IG Patiala, Deepak Parik as new SSP and Wazir Singh as SP.'

As per orders, the internet services were suspended from 09:30 in the morning and will continue to remain suspended till 06:00 pm in Patiala due to the recent law and order situation.

There is a likelihood of injuries to people, annoyance, danger or life & property, tension, disturbance of public peace & tranquillity, reads an official order.

At least 4 people sustained injuries after a clash broke out between 2 groups at the time of the anti-Khalistan rally on Friday afternoon near the Kali Devi shrine located in the city.

Following the big conflict, a curfew was imposed within the limits of Patiala district on Friday till morning 06:00 on Saturday 30 April.

As informed by the police, members of the right-wing group, Shiv Sena (Bal Thackeray) having no link with Shiv Sena started a Khalistan Murdabad rally from Arya Samaj Chowk to the temple of Kali Devi.
