Surat: Amid rising cases in the country, people here in Surat, left no stone unturned in violating COVID-19 curbs when they all thronged to blessed a bovine couple.

Notably, for humans, wedding attendees have been capped at 150 but when to calves got married in Surat on Friday, at least 10,000 people gathered the cowshed on the outskirts of the city in Ladvi village to bless the newlyweds.

''Nearly, 10,000 people visited the temple on Friday during the day and participated in the marriage,'' TOI quoted one of the participants as saying.

According to the National English Daily, the grand wedding was solemnized at the cowshed managed by Shree OM Nandeshwar Mahadev Trust (SONMT) in Ladvi village, where the bride was brought to Ladvi from Gandhari Ashram Gausala in Amroli.

According to the organisers, the event was held to fulfil the dream of Pipladgiri Mahraj of Gangdhari Ashram who wanted to create awareness about cow rearing.

It is believed that the said Maharaj had dreamt of organising the marriage and all at the cowsheds wished that they should create awareness about the cow rearing and its importance.

As per the report, the after marriage, the young bride, however, stopped eating and so, to comfort her in her sasural, the calf's mother too was brought to Ladvi for a few days.

Notably, a few guests, also offered silver anklets, head teeka and waist belt to the newly wed couple as a gift.
