NEW DELHI: In yet another incident of a plane crash, Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft MiG-21 crashed in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on Friday 24 December.

Plane pilot Wing Commander Harshit Sinha was found dead. The death of Wing Commander Harshit Sinha is the third death in the fifth crash this year.

The plane mishap took place during the training operation on Friday evening at around 8:30 pm. The plane reportedly got crashed in the Sudasiri village located near the Indo-Pak border area. Other information regarding the accident is awaited and inquiry has been initiated as informed by police officials.

Ajay Singh, the superintendent of police Jaisalmer informed that the incident took place in the Desert National Park area that falls under the Sam police station, Rajasthan.

The Station Holice Officer (SHO) of Sam police station, Dalpat Singh said that the accident occurred in the sand dunes near Sudasari (Desert National Park).

A witness residing in the hamlet near the Desert National Park informed that the MiG-21 caught fire before it reached the ground and then it then burst into flames.

The Indian Air Force informed the news through their official Twitter account mentioning that a MiG-21 aircraft of AIF met with a flying accident on Friday evening at around 8:30 pm in the western sector during the training sortie.

The tweet further reads that an investigation over the incident has been ordered. The AIF added that the Indian Air Force conveys the sudden demise of Wing Commander and the pilot of the plane crashed, Harshit Sinha who lost his life in the accident. It says that AID stands strongly with the family of the braveheart commander.

Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot paid heartfelt condolences to the family members of Wing Commander Mr. Harshit Sinha writing on his Twitter handle.

Kalraj Mishra, Governor of Rajasthan issued a statement condoling the demise of Wing Commander Harshit Sinha where he stated that the untimely death of the pilot is extremely depressing and paid his deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
