New Delhi: To address the UN General Assembly and to attend the Quad Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday has departed for United States for a three-day visit.

PM Modi will also hold a bilateral meet with US President Joe Biden at the White House on September 24.

As per the statement issued by Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, PM Modi and President Biden are expected to discuss ways to stem radicalisation and combat terrorism. They are also expected to discuss ways to bolster defense, trade ties, security collaborations and clean energy partnership among others,"PM Modi and Biden will discuss the current regional security situation following the recent developments in Afghanistan.

From September 22 to 25, PM Modi will hold the business interaction during his tour.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga of Japan and Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia will also going to be participating the Quad Summit along with PM Modi.

On September 25 in New York, PM Modi will conclude his visit by addressing the General Debate of the High-Level Segment of 76th Session of UN General Assembly (UNGA).

PM Modi is accompanied by a high-level delegation consisting of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and senior officials including Shringla.

This is Prime Minister Modi's first visit abroad beyond the neighbourhood since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

"I will be visiting USA from 22-25 September, 2021 at the invitation of His Excellency President Joe Biden of the United States of America. During my visit, I will review the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with President Biden and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. I am also looking forward to meeting Vice President Kamala Harris to explore opportunities for cooperation between our two nations particularly in the area of science and technology", PM Modi said.

PM Modi said, "My visit to the US would be an occasion to strengthen the Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership with USA, consolidate relations with our strategic partners – Japan and Australia - and to take forward our collaboration on important global issues".
