NEW DELHI: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Punjab's Radha Soami Satsang Beas Dera and met with its leader Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon.

Brahm Shankar Jimpa, a member of the Punjab Cabinet, greeted the prime minister. Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua and DGP Gaurav Yadav were also present.

In February, just before the Punjab assembly elections, PM Modi met with the Dera chairman in Delhi.

PM Modi tweeted earlier on Friday, "The Radha Soami Satsang Beas will be my honor to visit tomorrow, November 5. The RSSB is at the forefront of several community service initiatives under Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon Ji's direction."

Later in the day, PM Modi will also travel to Himachal Pradesh, where he will speak at rallies in Sundar Nagar and Solan.

"Tomorrow, 5th November I will have the honor of visiting the Radha Soami Satsang Beas. Under the leadership of Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon Ji, the RSSB is at the forefront of numerous community service efforts," PM Modi's tweet read.

The Election Commission of India has scheduled the election in Himachal Pradesh for November 12.

Additionally, a tight race is anticipated in the next Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh, where the opposition Congress has been hampered by factionalism and disorganized leadership within its State units, while the incumbent BJP has been hampered by anti-incumbency feelings.

In a week, on November 12, voters in Himachal Pradesh will choose representatives to fill the 68 seats in its Legislative Assembly. In the State, where the Congress and the BJP have alternately formed governments for more than three decades, many voters have voiced conflicted feelings about both parties.

It's unlikely that this election will change the election's bipolar nature. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is running for 67 of the 68 seats after sweeping to victory in neighboring Punjab earlier this year, does not appear to have much of a presence among Himachal Pradesh's electorate.
