PM Modi's Visit to France and UAE to Strengthen Strategic Partnerships

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signifies the strengthening of bilateral ties and the promotion of global cooperation. Departing from India on Thursday morning, PM Modi is scheduled to visit France from July 13 to 14 and the UAE on July 15.

During his visit to France, PM Modi expressed his anticipation to meet French President Emmanuel Macron and engage in extensive discussions aimed at furthering the longstanding partnership between the two nations. The prime minister described his visit as "special" as he will join President Macron as the Guest of Honour for the Bastille Day celebrations in Paris. Notably, an Indian tri-services contingent will participate in the Bastille Day Parade, and the Indian Air Force will conduct a fly-past.

Emphasizing the significance of the occasion, PM Modi acknowledged that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership between India and France. The two countries collaborate closely across various sectors, including defense, space, civil nuclear, trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people ties. The prime minister highlighted their joint efforts on regional and global issues.

"This visit is particularly special as I will join President Macron for the French National Day, or Bastille Day celebrations in Paris as the Guest of Honour. An Indian tri-services contingent will be part of the Bastille Day Parade, while Indian Air Force aircraft will perform a fly-past on the occasion," PM Modi said.

PM Modi expressed his eagerness to meet French counterpart Elisabeth Borne, French Senate President Gerard Larcher, and President of the French National Assembly Yael Braun-Pivet. Additionally, he plans to interact with the Indian community and prominent CEOs from both nations. The prime minister believes that his visit will inject new energy into the strategic partnership between India and France.

After concluding his visit to France, PM Modi will travel to Abu Dhabi in the UAE on July 15. He acknowledged the diverse engagement between India and the UAE across sectors such as fintech, defense, security, and energy. The prime minister looks forward to meeting H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, during his visit. Last year, both leaders agreed on a roadmap to guide the future of their partnership, and PM Modi anticipates discussions on further deepening their ties.

Furthermore, PM Modi highlighted that the UAE will host the 28th Conference of Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-28) later this year. Climate action and the implementation of the Paris Agreement are expected to be key topics of discussion during his visit. The prime minister is confident that his visit will open a new chapter in the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE.
