Guwahati: The Army Research and Referral Hospital, where former President Pranab Mukherjee has been admitted following health complications, has said that the veteran leader's condition remains "unchanged."
"The condition of Hon'ble Shri Pranab Mukherjee remains unchanged this morning (14 August 2020). He is under intensive care and continues to be on ventilatory support. His vital parameters are presently stable", the hospital said in an official statement on Friday morning.
It is to be noted that the veteran Congress leader Mukherjee underwent critical brain surgery to remove a clot in his brain after he suffered a fall at his Rajaji Marg residence on Sunday. Mukherjee also tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus after he was admitted to the hospital.
Rumours about his health condition have been doing the rounds on social media ever since he was admitted to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Mukherjee's family, has been providing health updates from time-to-time.
Today, Mukherjee's son and former Congress MP Abhijit Mukherjee took to Twitter and said that the former president is responding to external stimuli and treatment. "The 96 hour observation period Ends today. My father's vital parameters continues to remain stable & he is responding to external stimuli & treatment. My father always said " I Got much more from People of India than I could Give back" . Pls Pray for him," he wrote.

Meanwhile, Mukherjee's daughter and Congress leader Sharmishta urged media not to call her. "Rumours about my father is false. Request, esp'ly to media, NOT to call me as I need to keep my phone free for any updates from the hospital," she tweeted.
