Pregnant Woman Gang-Raped At Andhra Railway Station; 3 Including 1 Minor Detained

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh police have taken three people, including a minor, into custody in Repalle, Bapatla district in connection with the gang rape case of a pregnant woman.

The pregnant woman, who managed to survive, was sexually assaulted at Repalle Railway station. The despicable incident unraveled when the woman, along with her husband and children, were sleeping on the platform of the railway station.

As per the Bapatla district Superintendent of Police (SP), Vakul Jindal, the three accused, who were under the influence of alcohol, beat up the husband without any reason and gang-raped the woman.

Chief Minister YS Jagan and Vasireddy Padma, Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh Women's Commission, who inquired about the event on May 1, instructed the police to take stern action against the perpetrators.

The victim was taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ongole for medical assistance.

The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) raised their voice against the issue and they alleged that the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) were unable to maintain law and order and women's security in the state.

In another gruesome incident, three more people were arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police in the kidnapping and gang rape case of a 13-year-old minor girl in Guntur. Police arrested a 35-year-old woman from a reputed law college in Guntur and a businessman on Wednesday, April 27.

The woman was found running a sex racket and had forced the 13-year old into sex slavery. Earlier, her husband was also arrested, and after spending 120 days in jail, he is now out on bail. Police also arrested a businessman in Vijayawada who hails from Rajasthan.

So far, police had identified 80 accused who sexually exploited the minor girl and arrested 77 people.
