Quarantined worker's wife elopes with lover, Police Complaint Filed

Guwahati: In a sensational incident in Madhya Pradesh's Chattarpur district, a quarantined worker's wife reportedly eloped with her lover after his return from Delhi, where he used to work at construction sites. The 50-year-old man has filed a complaint at the nearest police station in this regard.

The migrant worker returned to his native Munderi village on May 19 amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown on a on a Shramik Special arranged by the Government. After his return, he quarantined himself on the first floor of his residence as his wife and children lived on the ground floor. After the elapse of a few days in this fashion, he woke up one day to find his door latched from outside.

When he did manage to free himself, he could not locate his wife and his children had no clue about her whereabouts either. The unfortunate man then had no option but to go seeking for her. Wrapping a gamcha around his face, the man went from house to house, asking people if they had seen his absconding wife. Eventually, he had no option but to file a missing persons report in the nearest police station, and he claimed that his 46-year old wife had eloped with her lover. The cops have registered the report and are on the lookout for the mother of three.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has revealed that ever since the lockdown came into effect, there has been a significant increase in the number of domestic violence complaints -- almost doubling in number.
