Rahul Gandhi questions why soldiers were sent "unarmed to martyrdom"

Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked the Narendra Modi Government over the death of 20 Indian soldiers by troops of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) along the undefined Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh.

He also questioned why Indian soldiers were sent "unarmed to martyrdom" in Ladakh and how dare China kill them, a day after asking the defence minister why he did not name China in his tweet and why it took him two days to condole the deaths of 20 Army personnel.

On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "Why is the Prime Minister silent? Why is he hiding? Enough is enough. We need to know what has happened. How dare China kill our soldiers? How dare they take our land?"

Gandhi also shared on Twitter an interview of a retired Army officer who has worked in the area where the India-China violent standoff took place on Monday.

Congress chief Sonia Gandhi also lambasted the Prime Minister. She demanded an explanation of how China managed to occupy Indian territory and why 20 soldiers had to sacrifice their lives for the nation.

The army officials confirmed that twenty Indian Army soldiers were killed on Monday after over six hours of "violent face-off" with troops of China's People's Liberation Army along the undefined Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh.
