Rajasthan Police Reach Noida To Arrest TV Journalist Aman Chopra

New Delhi: A team of Rajasthan Police on Sunday reached Noida to arrest TV journalist Aman Chopra for allegedly promoting enmity between different groups and hurting religious sentiments.

According to reports, Chopra, in one of his shows, described the recently demolished temple in Rajasthan's Alwar by the municipality as revenge for the demolition drive against illegal encroachment in Delhi's Jahangirpuri.

Subsequently, a case was registered against Chopra under IPC sections 124-A (sedition), 295A (acting with intent to outrage religious feelings), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and section 67 of the IT Act.

However, a team of Rajasthan Police went to Noida on Sunday to arrest TV journalist Aman Chopra but returned unsuccessfully as the police found Chopra's house locked.

Reportedly, on Saturday, the Rajasthan High Court had issued stay orders over Chopra's arrest in two cases registered against him in Bundi and Alwar districts. However, the court did not stay his arrest in the third FIR lodged in Dungarpur district, in which a local court has issued an arrest warrant against the journalist.

As per media reports, this was the second time that the team of Rajasthan Police went Noida to arrest Chopra. However, the Rajasthan police accused UP police of not coperating with them as UP Police took them to a police station made them wait for a long time.

Dungarpur SP Sudhir Joshi said that our additional SP had already informed UP Police about the case against Chopra.
