Rape Rate High In India As Women Don't Wear Hijab Says Karnataka Congress MLA

According to MLA Zameer, the reason for rape in India is that many women do not wear Hijab. The Karnataka HC restrianed students from wearing religious attire in the classroom.

NEW DELHI: Amid the Hijab controversy, different leaders are coming up with different opinions and recently Karnataka Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed made a very strange statement by connecting the Hijab matter with rape incidents.

The MLA stated that the rape rate in the country is increasing because many women do not prefer to wear Hijab or headscarves.

According to MLA Zameer, the reason for rape in India is that many women do not appreciate the idea of wearing a Hijab.

The Congress MLA added that the practice of wearing a Hijab is not new it had started many years ago.

He further explains that Hijab means pardah in Islam religion and it is made to hide the beauty of girls when they grew up with age.

He also made it clear that wearing Hijab is not compulsory but those women who want to protect themselves and wish to keep their beauty unveiled wear it.

Meanwhile, the Hijab controversy in the country is taking different shades as the topic is making headlines throughout the recent days.

The matter got worsened when some of the burqa-wearing girl students were not allowed to enter their college campus located in Udupi of Karnataka.

This led to huge protests by students in different parts of the state against the ban on Hijab in schools and colleges.

The protest against the Hijab ban has also resulted in violence among students diverting them from the main purpose of going to school.

The Karnataka government issued an order in relation to this stating that students in school and colleges in the state whether public or private must adhere to the rules of institutions in wearing proper uniforms.

As of now, the state High Court informed that no students will be allowed to wear any religious attire in the classroom of educational institutions and this needs to be followed until further order or plea challenging the Hijab ban.
