Several Parts of India Suffer Under Severe Cold Wave
Equipment recorded at 5 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung station, which is nearly 4 degrees lesser than normal.

GUWAHATI: The Northern and Western states of the country are under the grip of a severe cold wave. This wave caused the temperatures to plummet in several parts of the country, including the National Capital Region.
This cold wave caused a dense fog in several parts of the NCR lowering visibility to about 50 meters in the morning hours of Monday. This caused problems with vehicular and train movement in the region. Not only NCR, but Bhatinda in Punjab and Bikaner in Rajasthan also recorded visibility of zero meters today.
Equipment recorded 5 degrees Celsius at the Safdarjung station, which is nearly 4 degrees lesser than normal. Similarly, Chandigarh, Ambala, Karnal, Hisar, Rohtak, Delhi Ridge, Palam, Amritsar, Patiala and Ludhiana also recorded lower-than-normal temperatures. And thus making it the coldest day yet of this winter season.
Dense fog has also caused several accidents across the NCR as well as the neighbouring region. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain like this for a few more days, and a further dip in the mercury can be expected, at least in the next 48 hours.
Up further north, Kashmir is also suffering intense cold weather as the temperatures remained below the freezing point.
The temperature has definitely gone down in the Northeastern region as well, but it remains to escape the real cold weather. Although neighbouring regions have seen a dip in the temperature. Guwahati remains warm with a minimum temperature of about 15 degrees Celcius. Some parts of Dibrugarh have received isolated showers in the past few days, which started the winter chills.
As the weather remains overcast in Guwahati since the morning of Monday, December 26, citizens are waiting for the chill. Many people were spotted without warm clothes on the occasion of Christmas, which used to be most unexpected in the yesteryears.
